Our Story
ClayGen Consulting was founded on July 1, 2020 by brothers Brian and David Clayton in Guelph, Ontario. What started as a small IT consultancy has grown into a technology company that manages IT, builds its own platform, and develops custom business solutions for clients across Canada.
Before starting ClayGen, Brian and David spent years working in IT across a range of industries. They saw the same problems over and over: businesses stuck with unreliable support providers, blindsided by hidden fees, and left vulnerable by vendors who disappeared the moment something went wrong. The tools available were either overpriced enterprise software or generic solutions that nobody ended up using.
They decided to build something different. ClayGen was founded on a simple idea: that every business, regardless of size, deserves IT support that is honest, proactive, and genuinely invested in their success. But the vision didn't stop at support tickets and monitoring dashboards.
As ClayGen grew, so did the scope of what we deliver. We built ClayGen Connect, a complete operations platform that we configure for each client's industry, terminology, and processes. Sales, service, scheduling, HR, field operations, marketing, reporting, and AI. All in one place. All designed so your team adopts it on day one, not day ninety.

Brian co-founded ClayGen after twelve years building enterprise CRM and XRM systems for businesses across North America. The lesson from those years shaped how ClayGen operates: great software is not defined by features or sophistication. It is defined by adoption. David Clayton
Co-Founder. Managed IT and Security
David co-founded ClayGen after twenty years inside the IT and MSP world, working directly with small and mid-size businesses across Ontario. Infrastructure, security, helpdesk, and client operations across the stack. The lesson from those years shaped how ClayGen operates: most IT problems are not technology problems, they are accountability problems. Tickets sit in queues. Vendors point at each other. The person paying the bill never gets a straight answer. David leads engineering, security, and managed operations, so every part of your IT has one team that owns it and a direct line to him when something matters.
